Originally named The Sewing Center, our store was founded in 1982
by Robert Sneeringer. Robert had worked for the Singer Sewing Machine company since 1966. Due to the closing of the Singer
retail stores, he opened his own store.
In 1995 The Sewing Center
was downsized, renamed to The Sew'n Place, set up as a corporation and Robert's son Michael was named president.
The Sew'n Place's main focus was on sewing machines
and quilt fabrics.
In July of 2005 The Sew'n Place expanded
to a 2600 square foot store where they now offer more fabrics, notions, books and sewing machines. A larger classroom was
included in this store to accommodate the growing number of classes they offer.
In July of 2010 once again, the Sew'n
Place expanded. This time to a 5200 square foot super store located on Gateway Avenue in Chambersburg.
The Sew'n Place has two sewing machine technicians, so most repairs take
only about a day.
