Class Leather Cutwork Clutch - Fayetteville

There will be some prep work for this class, however, if you took the Leather Cut-work Bag class, a lot of this will be familiar to you.  If you did not, it’s okay, I’m here to help!  If you are not comfortable completing the prep work at home on your own, I’ll be happy to work with you to meet prior to class.

You will need an embroidery machine in good working order that you are familiar with using, your embroidery unit, your hoops, stabilizer, fabric, threads, embroidery needles, bobbins, and a basic sewing/embroidery kit of supplies including scissors, snips, embroidery scissors, needles, bobbins, screwdriver, etc...  

If your cut-work design is not built into your machine, you will need to download it and load it onto a thumb drive to use in class.  I will bring my laptop to class if you need any help getting the design files onto your thumb drive.

Supplies you will need:

• mid-weight tear away stabilizer, I used OESD’s Ultra Clean & Tear and it worked well with faux suede.  The amount that you need is determined by the size of the hoop that you use.  You will have one hooping, but it’s always good to have extra, just in case.  

• embroidery thread (for your embroidery and cut-work design)

• bobbin thread

• sewing thread (to sew your clutch together)

• one 12” high X 17” wide piece of your main fabric 

• This can be leather, suede, faux suede or marine vinyl.  Faux leather would not be the best option because white will show where the pieces are cut and throughout the cut-work design.

• If you took the Leather Cut-work Bag class, you should have enough let over to make this matching clutch!

• one 12” high X 17” wide piece of the peek through fabric (I used Batik and it turned out great!)

• two 12” high X 17” wide piece of lining fabric (I used a solid Kona that coordinates well with both my main fabric and the Batik.)

• one 12” high X 17” wide piece of Peltex Ultra Firm Stabilizer (optional if you chose suede or faux suede for your main fabric and you want your clutch to have a stiffer body)

• cut work needles (These come in a set of four and you need all of them to complete the design.  If it fits in your budget, you may want a second set, just in case.)

• leather needles

• machine feet:

• utility foot B

• sensor Q foot

• non-stick glide foot H (I used this for the faux suede and it worked well.  It would not be the best option for the marine vinyl or the leather.)

• roller foot (This foot will work best if you choose to use leather or marine vinyl.)

• 360 X 260 Imperial Hoop

• magnetic snap closure
