Class Viking Club (formerly Epic Club) - Chapter 12 - Fayetteville
What can we do with our “Epic” machines? There's so much that our Husqvarna Viking Designer Epic, Epic 2, Epic 3, Sapphire 85 and Brilliance 80 machines can do! If you own one of these machines, this club is for you. :) We meet monthly to work through the chapters of the Epic workbook, taking it one chapter at a time. We take an in-depth exploration and review the top features of our top of the line machines. Each month we build a deeper knowledge of all that these machines can do. It’s never too late to participate! Join in for the techniques you’re interested in and skip the ones that aren’t for you.
Requirements: In addition to your machine and the embroidery unit, you will want to bring a basic kit of sewing supplies to each class. Items you may need are: scissors, snips, pins, quilt clips, marking tools, needles, screwdriver, the feet for your machine, straight stitch plate & zig zag plate for your machine, sewing thread, embroidery thread, your embroidery hoops, filled bobbins, a seam ripper in case a friend needs it, etc...
For this month’s project you will need:
• several scraps of fabric to practice on
• embroidery thread
• two bobbins of bobbin fill
• light tear away stabilizer
• water soluble stabilizer
• a pre-made square linen to embroider – 42” square is suggested, however you will be choosing your own embroidery designs and can make something smaller - a smaller project is more likely to be completed within our class time (or a square of tone on tone/solid fabric to create your table topper)
• please, look through your design book, or machine embroidery menu, and pre-plan which designs you’d like to use – this will make the most efficient use of your time in class
Optional items for this month’s project:
• Applique designs
◦ scraps of fabric for appliques
• Ribbon Embroidery
◦ ribbon embroidery attachment – for the machines that can use it, if you’d like to learn it
◦ ribbons based on your chosen design
• Cutwork
◦ pack of cutwork needles
• Yarn Couching
◦ yarn couching feet set
• Thread Velvet
◦ fabric glue
◦ “surgical” seam ripper
• Felting
◦ felting embroidery set
◦ pieces of wool, wool roving, silk ribbon, yarn, denim, Angelina fiber
Not all of our machines have the ability to do all of these techniques. I will bring my machine and demonstrate any that you are interested in that cannot be done on your particular machine.
Please, reach out to me if you have any questions or need assistance deciding what item to bring. I'm always happy to help. :)
