Class Spiral Mandala Quilt (4-Days) - Fayetteville
The literal translation of Mandala means circle. A Mandala Quilt starts with a center point and the quilt radiates outward from the center geometrically. The design can be simple or complex. In this class the design will be foundation pieced.
Feb 24 - Session One:
Explore the mandala concept by viewing various Mandala Quilts. Then draw a few mandalas and find the hidden designs in your drawings. Learn how to transfer your drawing into a Mandala Quilt, create wedge patterns and begin exploring color.
March 24 - Session Two:
Select fabric and prepare your foundation patterns. Cut and organize fabric.
April 28 - Session Three:
Create and begin sewing your Mandala Quilt.
June 23 - Session Four:
Finish sewing and assemble your Mandala Quilt.

12 inch ruler
Scissors for cutting paper
2 highlighters in different colors; orange, pink or yellow are best
Double sided tape
Glue stick
Basic sewing supplies
Sewing machine

Instructor Bio: | Helen Wasserman is a local fiber arts quilter who has been quilting for 26 years. She has studied with Ranae Merrill, the author of Magnificent Spiral Mandala Quilts, the book required for this class. Helen has been commissioned to create and make original art quilts. Her quilts have been displayed at various juried quilt shows and galleries. In addition to her love of quilting, Helen enjoys sharing her passion and skills with others. |
